Las Vegas Jobs - Construction, Casinos and Manufacturing
The recession is strong and you don't think you can get a job. Think again. Las Vegas has one of the strongest economies in the nation. Where other states and cities are laying-off employees, Las Vegas, as a whole, is HIRING! Some dramatic growth areas actually include the non-casino job arena. Since corporate headquarters and distribution centers are being relocated to the Las Vegas area, many companies have found an educated work force and a strong and low cost economy."
One of the top leading indicators, said panelist Stan Duobinis, a NAHB economist based in Washington, is job creation and Nevada is among 10 states that will see an increase of between 0.5 percent and 2.8 percent this year. States that are strong in the category will experience job growth in construction categories, defense spending -- particularly in homeland security, health care and the travel industry -- particularly those states that have a strong drive-in market."

Many California companies are moving to Las Vegas and the result is job creation. New employers mean more jobs. Businesses are motivated to move away from California due to high costs of utilities, workers compensation insurance rates and paid family-leave law. Las Vegas has been capitalizing on these factors. In fact, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada is stepping up its marketing effort to attract more California businesses. It's working.
"Interviewed recently in the midst of his move to Sparks, a city near Reno, company founder Andrew DiMino blamed success."
CarbSmart warehouses and distributes dietary food products, and DiMino decided he could not afford the larger facility and additional employees necessitated by his firm's growth unless he left California.
'I love the weather [in California], the people and the diversity, but the cost of living, the cost of employment and the quality of employment you get for that dollar? We just get killed on everything now,' said DiMino, who fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to California from Rochester, N.Y., four years ago."
