Horizons Homes sales agent touts energy efficiency of residences

Horizons Homes, located in the southeast area of the Las Vegas Valley, offers home buyers an energy feature package with each floor plan.

"The builder has taken great measures to make sure that the homes here at Horizons are energy efficient. That means a lot to most homeowners, especially when you consider the rising costs of energy services. With the weather warming up, home buyers will appreciate the energy-efficient designs because some of them can help save money on their energy bills," sales agent Shanna Tinker said.

Standard energy features at the complex include ground-mounted air conditioning, natural gas hook-up for clothes dryers, 200 amp electrical panel, pilotless ignition on all gas appliances, dual-pane glass on all windows and doors, value insulation in walls and ceiling, and an energy-efficient gas heating system.

"We have some great floor plans that are very family friendly. They offer a good amount of space, we have loft options, and they have garages. Those are always well-liked features," Tinker said.

There are five floor plans at Horizons ranging in size from 1,115 to 1,420 square feet. Homes are available offering two to four bedrooms. Popular floor plans include Dawn, Sunset and Dusk.

The Dawn floor plan has 1,115 square feet and includes two bedrooms and two baths. Sunset has 1,320 square feet and includes two bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. The plan also offers a loft and optional third bedroom. The Dusk floor plan has 1,325 square feet and includes three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. The plan also offers an optional fourth bedroom.

Prices start in the high $220,000s.

"Another thing people really like about the homes here are that they are detached. They like the idea of not having anyone directly connected to them," Tinker said.

Standard features in each floor plan include separate laundry room; raised-panel doors; oak or maple cabinetry; volume ceilings; wall-to-wall carpeting; designer rocker switches; custom recessed lighting; hand-finished textured ceilings and rounded corners; garage door with roll-up steel door; formal ceramic-tile entries; and decorative no-wax vinyl in the kitchen, baths and utility room.

The kitchen also has standard white-on-white appliances, an energy-saving dishwasher, and a refrigerator plumbed for ice maker.

Exterior features include rear-yard walls.

Optional features include barbecue stub, security system prewiring, a home networking system, intercom system, soft-water loop, granite counter tops, and a garage door opener.

Horizons is located between the Desert Rose and Royal Links golf courses. The community offers city and mountain views.

To visit, take Vegas Valley Drive east, past Nellis Boulevard, to Sloan Lane. Sales office hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
